Calogero "Callo" Albanese
Born in Modena, in the heart of Italy’s Motor Valley, I am an international photographer specializing in Formula 1 and motorsport, with more than twenty years of experience capturing the essence of top-level motor racing.
My story began long before professional photography. Growing up with the legend of Enzo Ferrari and surrounded by the motorsport culture that defines my homeland, I dreamed of becoming a racing driver as a child (... but that’s another story). The thrill of racing, the roar of engines, and the atmosphere of the circuits sparked a passion that would shape the course of my life.
At the age of ten, I received my first camera, a Polaroid 1000. It was a moment that changed everything. Through that lens, I discovered a new way of seeing the world, and a deep love for photography was born. This passion eventually led me to study its techniques, language, and expressive potential. Over time, my two greatest passions merged into a single purpose: telling the story of motorsport through images.
I have worked as a freelance professional photographer since 2000. Over the years, I have built an internationally recognized reputation, collaborating with leading teams, drivers, media organizations, companies, and global brands. My work regularly takes me to the world’s most prestigious racing circuits, where I have documented some of the most important events in contemporary motorsport.
During my career, I fulfilled one of the dreams I had cherished since childhood: working for Scuderia Ferrari. Through my photographs, I have had the privilege of documenting victories, defeats, sacrifices, emotions, and defining moments that form part of the history of one of the most iconic names in world motorsport.
Over the years, I have also had the good fortune to photograph and meet extraordinary champions, not only in motorsport, but across many other sporting and professional fields. Every encounter has enriched my perspective and strengthened my ability to tell the stories of the people behind the performances, achievements, and public recognition.
For me, photography is far more than documentation: it is storytelling, emotion, and memory. Every image is born from the pursuit of the perfect moment, a meticulous attention to detail, and the desire to convey the unique energy experienced both on and off the track. My personal style is also influenced by worlds that may seem far removed from motorsport, such as art and fashion, which contribute to what colleagues and friends often describe as the “Callo Albanese touch.”
Today, I continue to work on the most prestigious stages of international motorsport, and I consider myself incredibly fortunate to still be living the dream that began as a child among the engines and racing heritage of my hometown, Modena.
